The tribute starts at 8pm.

Tuesday (8/30) Daryl Davis Presents An Evening with Marianna Previti! There are plenty of singers who are jacks of all genres and an abundance of great singers specializing in certain genres.  But every once in a blue moon, there comes a vocalist versatile enough to be a master of all. Marianna Previti is such a rarity. Trained as a classical instrumentalist on the trumpet, she has successfully conveyed that talent to her voice and is recognized as one of the finest singers in the Washington, DC area. This award-winning vocalist is equally comfortable in jazz, blues, rock, and country. She is critically acclaimed for her musical dynamics and phrasing. Show host and piano player Daryl Davis, apart from The Daryl Davis Band, has worked with Elvis Presley’s Jordanaires, Chuck Berry, The Legendary Blues Band, Percy Sledge, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Coasters, The Platters, The Drifters, and many others. This concert begins at 7:30pm.

Wednesday (8/31) M3 is Marcus Mitchell, Marcus Young, & Marcus Anderson. Marcus Mitchell is not only an established saxophone artist in jazz, he is also CEO and President of 24th Music, a division of MHM Entertainment Group – a multi-faceted entertainment company based out of Maryland. Marcus Young delivers pure soulful melodic and inspirational songs infused with jazz rhythms, or “Groove Jazz,” as he calls it. Dynamic, multi-talented and dripping with soul, Marcus Anderson is an award-winning musician with an abundance of career-defining accolades all achieved under the age of thirty. With the release of his fifth solo album, Style Meets Substance, the critically-acclaimed Pop/R&B and jazz musician’s career is one to watch. Use Discount Code M3BBJ for half off the ticket price and enjoy the show by these great musicians who go by the name of Marcus! M3 starts at 8pm.

Friday (9/2) For over 25 years, Popa Chubby (born Ted Horowitz) has been rockin’ the blues. Since 1994, he has been heralded as a force to be reckoned with on guitar. An imposing figure with a shaven head, tattooed arms, a goatee, and a style he calls “The Stooges meets Buddy Guy, Motörhead meets Muddy Waters, and Jimi Hendrix meets Robert Johnson,” Popa Chubby is one of the genre’s most popular figures. Steeped in a mix of punk rock and deeply authentic blues, Chubby says, “Since I’d grown up on Hendrix, Cream, and Led Zeppelin, when I started playing blues in New York clubs I understood that the blues should be dangerous, too.” Use Discount Code PCBBJ for 50% off your ticket to the show! The show starts at 8pm.

Saturday and Sunday (9/3 – 9/4) Soul-jazz and hip-hop/funk innovator and trombone virtuoso Jeff Bradshaw was born in North Philadelphia. His father was a minister so his formative musical experiences were in church, where brass bands were a staple. In 1994, Bradshaw began to meet musicians, singers and producers on the Philly scene who went on to become the architect of the neo-soul revolution: Ahmir ‘?uestlove’ Thompson, Tariq ‘Black Thought’ Trotter of the Roots, James Poyser, Andre Harris, Vidal Davis, DJ Jazzy Jeff, King Britt, Ivan Barrios, Carvin Higgons, and many others. These friendships led to Bradshaw recording his trombone sounds with the likes of Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Floetry, Darius Ricker, Michael Jackson, Earth Wind & Fire, The Roots, Musiq Soulchild, and more. In 2002, he had the opportunity to record his first album as a leader, Bone Deep. That acclaimed first album led to busy years of touring, more recordings, and session work with a wide array of hip-hop, R & B and jazz artists. Come out and help Jeff celebrate his birthday along with very special guests Frank McComb and Maysa. The Saturday night and Sunday night concerts both begin at 8pm.

We have many more great shows for you coming up this fall! Check our Music Calendar for info on upcoming performances by Rahsaan Patterson, Mike Peters of The Alarm, an Amy Winehouse tribute by American Idol finalist Elise Testone, Tab Benoit, Anissa Hargrove w/ a special guest appearance by Gloria Gaynor, Trouble Funk, Lil’ Ed and The Blues Imperials + Guy Davis, The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra, and more.
