Onstage at BBJ!! Michael Muse, Eric Roberson, Burt Bacharach/Hal David Tribute and More!!

Wednesday (7/13)  – The Quiet Storm Band, headed by former percussionist and supporting vocalist for Roy Ayers, Stan Johnson, who is a professional singer, songwriter, producer and recording artist, The group has performed with various artist such as Roy Ayers, Gene Khan, Phyllis Hyman, Grover Washington Jr and more. Quiet Storm has performed at various venues across the country and internationally.   8:00pm   

 
Thursday (7/13) – Michael Muse embodies the best traditions of R&B Soul music as a vocalist, songwriter and producer. He is the son of the legendary NYC Jazz Musician “Chuck Henley” and he started his music career with Rare Essence at the ripe age of 16. Muse studied at Howard University and released his latest project The Love of You in 2017.  8:00pm 

Friday (7/14) Join Newmyer Flyer as they present The Music of Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Their songs were behind many of Dionne Warwick’s classics and their music earned them more than 50 top forty hits atop the charts. Julia Nixon has been one of Washington’s finest and most popular singers for more than 30 years, going back to a fabled decade long residency at Mr. Henrys. Newmyer Flyer was founded by Bandhouse Gigs co-founder Ron Newmyer.  8:00pm  
Saturday (7/15) Eric Roberson is a GRAMMY Award Nominee, Singer/Songwriter/Producer who attended Howard University. He was the first indie artist to win a BETJ Award and nominated in both 2010/2011 for a GRAMMY Award. In 2017 Eric has released an EP Trilogy entitled Earth (released in April) Wind (releasing July 18th) and Fire (releasing in October).

S unday (7/16) – Brencore Entertainment presents “A Tribute to the Music of Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan and Gladys Knight featuring Halima Peru and The FAYCEZ U Know Music Group. Halima is described as the Quintessential soul singer and she hails from Miami, Fl. Her versatility and vocal range allows her to channel these great artists music.  So spread the word to your friends and come out and enjoy “A Tribute to the Music of Aretha, Chaka and Gladys”   7:30pm

MONDAY (5/22) –  

Join the award-winning Walt Whitman High School Jazz Ensemble for an evening of incredible music performed by the next generation of jazz musicians. Under the direction of Terry S. Alvey, the Whitman Jazz Ensemble has performed on some of the east coast’s biggest stages, such as Carnegie Hall and the Music Center at Strathmore.  7:30 pm
  

TUESDAY (5/23)  –   

Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School Jazz Ensemble is an award-winning jazz group that performs a wide array of jazz styles. The band frequently performs swings, Latin, Funk, Rock and Ballads. The group plays at their cluster elementary and middle schools, the MCPS Jazz Festival, the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival and surrounding areas.  7:30pm   
WEDNESDAY (5/24)  – The Vocal Workshop Showcase produced by pianist Chris Grasso accompanied by bassist Zack Pride, and drummer Lenny Robinson. Patrons who come to the 7pm set are welcome to stay for the 9pm set with no additional cover charge. 7pm & 9pm  
THUR & FRID (5/25 & 5/26) – Vibraphonist/vocalist Roy Ayers is among the best-known, most loved and respected Jazz/R&B artist on the music-scene today. Now in his fourth decade in the music business. Ayers, known as the Godfather of Neo-Soul, continues to bridge the gap between generation of music lovers. Carolyn Malachi, the GRAMMY-Nominated songstress hails from Washington, DC, is a shining example of how music truly is universal. 8pm  
SATURDAY (5/27) –  
Washington, DC is the birthplace of Be’la Dona, an exciting and diverse all-female band. Their unique style of funk, jazz, r&b and rock command an impressive drawing power attracting many beloved fans and local promoters. Each band member has toured with various national artist including Nile Rodgers, Pieces of a Dream, Chaka Khan, Chuck Brown, EU, Salt-n-Pepa and more. 8pm 
SUNDAY (5/28) – ConFunkShun is a star-quality attraction delivering a superb, high-energy show with electrifying choreography, glistening six-part vocal harmonies, and a dash of humor. They are, unquestionably, among the heroes of funk with romantic ballads and dance-party hits galore. Their 20 hit singles included 8 Top Ten R&B Hits and one #1 R&B smash.  7:00/10:00 pm

A ten piece Salsa Orchestra with a 32 year history in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Formerly known as Orquesta La Ramana, on its 30 anniversary, band leader Edwin Ortiz officially changed the name adding La Mafia Del Guaguanco to the name. Their known for it’s hard hitting classic salsa sound and their often compared to the very best salsa players in New York & Puerto Rico.

Cyrus  Chestnut is an American Jazz Pianist, composer and producer. Chestnut enjoys mixing styles and resists being typecast in any one niche, though his gospel sound is apparent on a number of his recordings. Cyrus Chestnut was born in Baltimore, MD in 1963. “What makes Chestnut the best jazz pianist of his generation is a willingness to adbandon notes and play space.”

FRIDAY (4/28)  – 8:00pm
Chopteeth is a 12-piece AfroFunk orchestra exploding the common groove between the funkiest, most hip-shakin’  West African and American popular music in the planet. The core of the Chopteeth sound Afrobeat: a big-band funk invented by Fela Huti in 1970’s Nigeria.
