Sometimes when a new neighbor moves across the street, you might wonder: Will this be a neighbor as good as the last one? Will we get along with each other?
Well, there is no wondering from the staff at Bethesda Blues and Jazz Club is quite excited! In fact, we welcome our neighbors with open arms and reserved tables.
As reported recently, Marriott International plans to move from the downtown location to Bethesda, right across the road from Bethesda Blues and Jazz Club. This monumental move would bring with it 3,500 Marriott employees to work in its shiny new headquarters on Wisconsin Avenue by 2022.
Officials are saying the new move could produce $1.8 billion in economic activity in the next twenty years, meaning the Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club and its business neighbors could benefit greatly from the commercial activity, as well as the city of Bethesda with all of the taxes funneling to it.
This move, of course, means 3,500+ possible visitors to the Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club. It could make for a tremendous business and entertainment partnership for both business entities.
“When we found out that the Marriott Headquarters was moving across the road, we could not believe our ears!” said an excited Rick Brown, Owner and General Manager of the Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club. “I mean the possibilities of business growth for us both are endless. We welcome the Marriott staff, business partners, families, and friends to our business for their food and entertainment needs. We look forward to their relocation and wish them continued success.”
The Marriot Corporation is the world’s largest hotel company. It will be partnering with Bernstein Companies and Boston Properties to develop a 22-story, $600 million office building at 7750 Wisconsin Avenue, according to news reports.
Additionally, a 230-room, 8,000 square-foot, flagship hotel with a ballroom, business meeting spaces and a rooftop dining space will be built at that location, too. The commercial activity will definitely bring a new “economic renaissance” to the area.
“We could not be happier about this new development,” continued Rick Brown. “Our doors will be open!”
